In the news: access to Medicaid personal care in Virginia
VAPCP was featured in a 12 On Your Side segment on growing access problems in Medicaid personal care. Across the Commonwealth, agencies report hours that are authorized but cannot be consistently staffed. Workforce costs and reimbursement that has not kept pace are the reasons members give in those interviews.
That is an access problem for the people who use personal care to stay at home. The segment is one piece of a longer effort to put that fact in front of legislators and the public.

Spring Conference 2026
Providers met at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen for a day of DMAS, managed care, and legislative session briefings after a consequential winter in Richmond.
VAPCP returned to the General Assembly for Day on the Hill during the 2026 legislative session, bringing providers, caregivers, and advocates to meet legislators and staff in person.
Attendees talked through workforce pressure, operating costs, and reimbursement that continues to lag. Senator Aird addressed the group on the value of personal care. VAPCP was recognized on the Senate and House floors.
Day on the Hill is not a one-day event. Follow-up during the rest of the legislative session, and district visits after it, is how the association keeps the issue on a calendar that moves quickly.

Fall Conference 2025
The fall conference met at the Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen on the theme “Preparing for the Future of Homecare,” with sessions on DMAS, legislative strategy, managed care, and regulation. Humana was the keynote sponsor; HHAeXchange and USI Insurance sponsored breaks and lunch.
The spring conference was held at the Warwick Conference Center in Newport News. The agenda included DMAS updates, legislative updates, managed care updates, a membership benefit session, and discussion of RN supervision regulations.

2025 first-quarter DMAS meeting
VAPCP met DMAS leadership in the first quarterly meeting of 2025. A written briefing went to members after the meeting. Those notes are a member benefit; they are not posted here.
